The County of Renfrew stretches from the national capital region of Ottawa to the west, along the shores of the beautiful Ottawa River to the northern tip of historic Algonquin Park. It is the largest county in Ontario with over 900 pristine lakes and four major rivers. The County encompasses 17 municipalities and has an area of 7,645.68 square kilometers. It is estimated that the primary response territory area is in the excess of 15,000 square kilometers.
County of Renfrew Paramedics operate out of seven bases across the County.
The County of Renfrew Paramedic Service has become recognized as a best-in-class model of sub-urban and rural Paramedic Care in Ontario. While this mature and sophisticated model of care was created primarily to efficiently and effectively serve the needs of the residents of the County of Renfrew, it has since been adopted by many provinces, states and countries around the world to inform the creation of their systems of care.
The County of Renfrew Paramedic Service has built this model of sub-urban and rural Paramedic Care through an initiative and innovative practice of improving our services to our community. Our paramedics are widely recognized as the only 24/7 community–based access to the health system. Our paramedics provide expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment, system navigation and care coordination day and night.
